“Lonely Girl” Jen Dishes on Doomed Love Life

Actress said she uses humor to get through the breakups

Jennifer Aniston has no luck in love.

The 40-year-old beauty appears sexy as ever in a sultry shirtless photo shoot for the latest issue of Elle magazine  -- but the smoldering actress confesses that her dating life is less than picturesque and she has given in to the "lonely girl" moniker.

"I'm not going to ignore the pink elephant in the living room," she told the magazine in an interview first reported by the New York Post. "It's fine. I can take it."

Since 2005, the actress' trail of tears has included her split from hubby Brad Pitt, Vince Vaughn, model Paul Sculfor and John Mayer

Aniston said she's supportive of "anybody who is in a place that's not their strongest [but] is ready to push forward."

"If I'm the emblem for 'this is what it looks like to be the lonely girl getting on with her life' so be it," she said. "I can make fun of myself. And I'll bring it up as the world is bringing it up."

Jen said the "brick walls" she had to punch through as a child helped prepare her to endure emotional strain as an adult.

"My dad walking out and not seeing him for a year and not knowing where he was ... Trying to understand, 'Where did that person go?'" she said.

Her parents got divorced when she was 9, but she said she had a strong bond with her mother and the two would make each other laugh "like nobody's business."

"I remember being 7 and asking my mom if I was as pretty as [my best friend] Monique," she said. "And with all the love in the world, my mom looked at me and said, 'Oh, honey, you're so funny.'"
