Leo: I Have ‘Fond Memories' Of ‘Titanic'

In 1997, James Cameron’s “Titanic” became the highest-grossing film in box office history – and made a star out of young actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who became a teen idol to millions of young girls.

Over a decade later, the actor has carved out an impressive career, but he says he hasn’t forgotten where he got his start.

“[I have] fond memories,” he told Access Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell of the “Titanic” experience. “I’m proud to be a part of that movie… It’s always gonna be a part of my life and my career and I embrace it. I’m honored to be a part of that movie.”

The big-budget drama was “one of the more difficult films that I’ve ever had to shoot,” he said, but it was worth it in the end – and not just for the fame.

“At the end of the day I developed a great relationship with co-star Kate [Winslet], we’re still great friends,” he said.

Leonardo and Kate, who has called DiCaprio her best friend, have come full circle this year, pairing once again in Sam Mendes’ upcoming film, “Revolutionary Road.” But up first for the actor is a role alongside Russell Crowe in “Body Of Lies,” out October 10 – another film where the rewards outweighed the high-pressure production.
