Kristen Schaal Spreads Her Wings

Kristen Schaal, best known as Mel — the lone stalker of New Zealand transplants "Flight of the Conchords" in the HBO series of the same name, is expanding her horizons and taking to the airwaves.

"We're not jumping any sharks here. We're going to ease into it," Schaal told AccessHollywood.com.

Along with her comedic partner Kurt Braunohler, the two are hosting "High Five", a new hour-long show on SIRIUS XM satellite radio. The show is billed as an inside view of offbeat news, comedy and music.

"It's a radio show unlike any radio show that has ever existed!" Braunohler enthusiastically added. "We've always been big fans of radio because of the mystery. We're also big fans of satellites."

The show, which airs Wednesdays at 5 PM, is a four-week limited engagement. Guests will include musicians, comedians and surprise additions. The duo also promises a variety of items will be discussed, like the discovery of new flavors and work place relationships.

"I just wanted to know how to tell someone you work with that you're in love with them and to get them to admit that they're in love with you too," Braunholer said, describing the show's first topic. The subject got quite a response, according to the hosts, even if they seemed skewed toward one side of the argument.

"Most people said to go for it," Schaal noted. "Which I felt was incredibly unprofessional."

However, when it came to the fate of "Flight of the Conchords," Schaal didn't have much to share.

"I am unsure of what's going to happen next. I'm on standby," she said.

"High Five" can be found on SIRIUS XM Raw Dog, Channel 104, or www.sirius.com.
