Katy Perry Ties Michael Jackson's Single Record

Katy Perry is on a roll.

Just days after "The Smurfs" surprised everyone by matching the Daniel Craig/Harrison Ford big budget extravaganza "Cowboys and Aliens" box office dollar for box office dollar, Smurfette herself learned that she has pulled neck and neck with a musical icon as well.

Katy Perry's single "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" just hit #1 on the Billboard Pop Charts, giving the singer her fifth #1 single off the album "Teenage Dream." No pop singer has done that since Michael Jackson, who had five #1 singles off his 1987 release "Bad."

"Last Friday Night" is Perry's seventh #1 single, having hit the mark twice on her prior album "One of the Boys." The other four "Dream" #1's are "California Gurls," "Firework," "E.T.." and the title track, "Teenage Dream."

Perry is also the first musician in history to have four separate videos nominated for MTV Video Music Awards in a single year.
