Glam Slam: Undergarments 101 – The Bra Basics!

If you read yesterday's Glam Slam, then you know all about how to get the sexy lingerie looks Britney wears on her Circus tour. But finding the right bra for your everyday needs (practical, affordable and sexy) is difficult - it can be hard to figure out what type of bra is the best one for you. So we went straight to the expert: Victoria's Secret!

Victoria's Secret PR Manager Jennifer Fahey says, "there are five main styles that women should have in their wardrobe." According to Jen, they are: PUSH UP (for a "boost"… padding levels range from subtle to ultimate), FULL COVERAGE (maximum support and coverage), DEMI (more revealing, less coverage in the cup), MULTI-WAY (can adjust for one strap, two straps or no straps) and WIRELESS (light support with a flexible, natural fit).

When choosing the right bra, Jen explains "Victoria's Secret has unveiled the 3 secrets to the perfect fit: Style, Swell, Size. You have to first choose your STYLE - which means selecting a silhouette that suits your shape and wardrobe needs. Then the SWELL - how much lift do you want?… And finally, SIZE." Jen recommends going to a Victoria's Secret store 1-2 times per year to get measured to find the right bra size because your size does change.

As for bras that are best for different body shapes, Jen suggests a push-up bra like Victoria's Secret Miracle Bra ($50) for smaller-chested women. For women with bigger busts, try the new full coverage Perfect One Bra ($45), recently launched with Heidi Klum (she loves it!). "This bra comes in sizes 34B to 40DD and is the best of 3 bras in 1 - it shapes, smoothes and supports."

There are also tips Jen says to keep in mind:

-The bra should not move up as the day wears on. If it does, try a smaller band size.
-The straps should not mark up your shoulders. If they do, loosen the straps or try a larger cup.
-The straps should not constantly slip down. If adjusting the straps doesn't stop this, go down a band size.
-Finally, the cups shouldn't overflow or feel constricting - if they do, go up a cup size. If the cups gap or pucker, you should tighten the band or go down a cup size."
