In addition, Farrah's longtime companion, Ryan O'Neal, is working to get the couple's 24-year-old son, Redmond, out of a Los Angeles jail so he can visit his ailing mother for what may be one final time.

The news of Farrah's condition comes on the heels of Ryan's revelation that he has asked the former "Charlie's Angels" star to be his wife.

"If she's feeling a little better, I've asked her to marry me again and she's agreed," Ryan said in a new interview with Barbara Walters for ABC's "20/20." "We will as soon as she can say yes. Maybe she can nod her head. I promise you, we will."

Farrah, 62, and Ryan, 68, first began dating in 1979.
