Edge Still Hasn't Found What He's Looking for in Malibu

The Edge's plan to build houses on a Malibu hill isn't sweet music to homeowners who live below the site.

The project would be above the Serra Retreat neighborhood, according to the Los Angeles Times. Its residents include Dick Van Dyke, Kelsey Grammer and James Cameron.

According to the Times:

Residents worry that the project would produce an environmental disaster, since it would mean extending a road on rugged slopes through slide-prone areas, running a water line under similarly challenging terrain and grading more than 70,000 cubic yards of earth.

A representative for Evans told the Times that the project will "create a sense of place that respects the environment (and) architecture that will stand the test of time."

As for the California Coastal Commission, it has some concerns. The project's impact on habitat, construction crew traffic, possible landslides and the aesthetic impact are among the issues, the Times reported.
