Despite Recession, Stars Shine Bright In Diamonds And Jewels

Despite the economic recession, the stars definitely did not tone down the diamonds and jewels on the 2009 Oscars red carpet this year.

Fred Leighton's necklaces were hard to miss at the Oscars. Actress Taraji P. Henson wore a Fred Leighton diamond-laden 19th century necklace, and Amy Adams stood out in a distinctive multi-colored jeweled necklace.

Neil Lane jewelry was also prominently displayed on the red carpet. Miley Cyrus shined in $500,000 of Neil Lane jewels including diamond and platinum dangle earrings, while Diane Lane wore a $275,000 with a fringe necklace, earrings and rings.

Jennifer Aniston, who was an Oscar presenter alongside comedian Jack Black, wore BVLGARI diamond earring and ring, and Marisa Tomei dazzled in dramatic pieces from Van Cleef & Arpels' Heritage Collection.

The most dramatic display of jewels, however, went to Anne Hathaway, who was draped in over one million dollars of Cartier diamonds, including a $735,000 9.6 carat princess-cut diamond with pave detail ring and a $335,000 platinum and diamond Triple & Double Row bracelet.

Of course, don't look down too much at the stars shining despite the recession – almost all of it is simply borrowed for the night!
