Clay Aiken Is A Dad

He was a breakout star of “American Idol” Season 2, he stormed the charts with a host of albums and recently lit up Broadway in “Spamalot,” but Clay Aiken has a new accomplishment to boast about – he’s a first time dad.

The singer and his friend, Jaymes Foster (sister of record mogul David Foster), welcomed a little boy into the world on Friday morning, a rep for Aiken confirmed to Access Hollywood.

Shortly after the birth, Aiken hit his Web site to share the news with the “Clay-mates,” the nickname given to fans of the redheaded star.

“HE’S HERE!” Aiken blogged. “My dear friend, Jaymes, and I are so excited to announce the birth of Parker Foster Aiken (No hyphens. One first name. One middle name. One last name.).”

The little boy was born in Aiken’s home state, North Carolina, at around 8:08 AM, on “08/08/08,” the singer added.

The baby weighed in at 6 lbs., 2 oz. and was 19 inches long.

“The little man is healthy, happy, and as loud as his daddy. Mama Jaymes is doing quite well also,” Aiken wrote. “The Aiken family, the Foster family, and the Parker family are all thrilled. We’ll share more at some point in the future.”

In May, news broke that Aiken was to be a father with Jaymes. She was artificially inseminated, Aiken’s rep confirmed to Access following the baby’s birth.

The two, who are not believed to be romantically involved, live together in Los Angeles.

In an April interview with Billy Bush, Aiken said he has worked with Jaymes for years.
