The divorce trial of Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook has been settled, Access Hollywood has learned.
Christie Brinkley’s attorney, Robert Stephan Cohen, released the following statement to Access:
“After five days of trial and for the sake of their children, Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook have reached an agreement. Ms. Brinkley received sole custody and decision making for the children. Peter Cook was granted parenting time and a financial settlement of $2.1 million… Ms. Brinkley will continue to individually own all of her real estate properties.”
The divorce settlement was reached at 6:15 AM Thursday and is an amicable settlement of all the issues brought to trial and is in the best interest of the children.
The settlement of their divorce favors Brinkley, multiple sources told Access. Brinkley will have sole custody of their children, Jack and Sailor, and have complete control of the decision-making regarding their upbringing.
“I am very happy with the settlement,” Brinkley told Access while entering court Thursday morning. “Didn’t sleep a wink. It’s a great day.”
When asked if the children were happy with the settlement, she said, “I don’t know if they’ll really know the difference of something like that.”
Cook will receive a payday of $2.1 million. He will have visitation rights to his two children.
Following the court proceedings, Cook told Access, he was pleased with the settlement.
Brinkley said the settlement was a “death of a marriage,” but has “no regrets, because of this union, Sailor, my beautiful daughter was born.”
The former supermodel also said she can’t wait to send a care package to her kids who are away at summer camp.
Brinkley’s lawyer told Access that his client and Cook worked together to reach an agreement for the sake of the children. Talks began Wednesday at 4 PM and lasted until a little after 6 AM Thursday. He noted that due to the intense media interest in Brinkley and Cook’s divorce trial that it was one of the hardest he has worked on.
When asked if dating was in her future, Brinkley told Access, “We will see how the summer goes.”
The couple split two years ago when Brinkley learned of an affair Cook was having with his teenage assistant.
Brinkley and Cook’s divorce will be finalized on September 12.
