Charlie Sheen Enters Rehab, “Two and a Half Men” on Hold

Charlie Sheen is back in rehab, a day after the troubled actor was hospitalized in Los Angeles.

"Charlie Sheen has voluntarily entered an undisclosed rehabilitation center today,” Sheen spokesman Stan Rosenfield told news outlets on Friday. “He is most grateful to all who have expressed their concern.”

Rosenfield, who hours earlier had said the "Two and a Half Men" star would report for work Tuesday,  appealed for privacy. He did not say what Sheen was seeking treatment for, though it will be his third time in a treatment facility in 12 months, according to Reuters.

CBS said in a statement Friday it stood behind Sheen and would put "Men" on hiatus with eight episodes yet to be filmed for the 24-episode season, the wire service reported.

The network's entertainment president, Nina Tassler, openly admitted earlier this month execs had a "high level of concern" about its highly paid star.

Sheen, 45, was hospitalized early Thursday in Los Angeles with what his publicist described as "severe abdominal pains."

According to a friend of Sheen's who spoke with Extra, the actor aggravated a hiatal hernia by laughing too hard at something on TV.

But TMZ.com reported that Sheen had partying since Wednesday at his L.A. home with five porn stars, including actress Kacey Jordan. She told the website the partying and competitive drinking lasted for about 36 hours.

Sheen neighbor Dr. Paul Nassif and his wife, the "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Adrienne Maloof-Nassif, told People that they received a frantic phone call from Sheen's house in the early morning hours on Thursday.

"We did receive a call from Charlie's house this morning, asking for medical assistance and advice," they said in a statement to the magazine, "and immediately insisted the caller dial 911. Dr. Nassif also immediately called 911."

Sheen has been in the news for reckless partying regularly since an episode on Christmas, 2009, in which he allegedly held a knife to then-wife Brooke Mueller's neck.

He later split with Mueller and pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault in the case and was sentenced to rehab.

No charges were filed against Sheen in a subsequent episode in New York, in which he was found naked and disoriented in a luxury hotel that he had trashed. A porn star who said she was with Sheen that night was found in the bathroom, and the actor's ex-wife Denise Richards and their two young children were in a room just down the hall.

While Sheen has become a punchline for comedians, through it all, he had kept to his taping schedule for the highly-rated sitcom, for which he is paid just under $2 million per episode.

"Two and a Half Men" co-star Jon Cryer alluded to reports of Sheen's wild ways in an interview on "Conan" this week.

"It's always a little weird because like the stuff you hear is just unbelievable," Cryer said. "I mean like... I'm checking TMZ, as I do every day, to know if I have to go to work at all."
