Becks On Breaking Into Film: ‘Never Say Never, Except About That!'

He may be pals with Hollywood’s elite, but David Beckham has no plans to head off the soccer field and follow his friends on to the big screen.

“What film career? I haven’t got one,” the soccer star told British GQ’s December issue.

Beckham, who is celebrating two decades as a soccer star, appears on the cover of British GQ, which is also celebrating it’s own 20-year anniversary (as a magazine). In the mag, Becks explained he had no plans to expand his resume to include movie work.

“Never say never, except about that,” Becks said. “And that’s the way it’s going to stay.”

With no box office future in sight, Beckham is free to indulge in his expanding collection of body art, without studio-head criticism. As for those tattoos, the football star, who will be on loan from the LA Galaxy to AC Milan beginning in January, said his body art ideas come from celestial themes.

“All my tattoos have a religious theme,” he said. “I’m not too religious. But I believe there is something out there that looks after you.”

And it appears Becks has no plans to change his current religious positions. Despite being around deeply religious friends like Tom Cruise, no one has attempted to sway him to their way of thinking.

“I respect any person’s religion. Everybody’s got their own ideas,” the soccer star said. “And, of course, Tom is a big believer in Scientology, but he’s never pushed anything on to us about it and he never will do. Friends don’t do that.”

The Beckhams and the Cruises do share thoughts, however, of the food and film variety.
