Authorities File Felony Drug Charges Against Mackenzie Phillips

Authorities filed felony drug charges against actress Mackenzie Phillips earlier today, according to City News Service.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Phillips (the star of ‘70s show “One Day At A Time”) was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on August 27 after she was pulled out of a security line andsearched by TSA personnel. According to LA police, they allegedly found quantities of both heroin and cocaine on Phillips and she was taken into custody.

Phillips, the daughter of Mamas & Papas singer John Phillips, was charged with one count of possession of cocaine, one count of possession of heroin and unauthorized possession of a hypodermic needle or syringe, CNS reported.

Phillips is expected to be arraigned on the drug charges in October.

The actress, 48, started her career with great promise, both as a singer and an actress.

As a teenager she appeared the George Lucas’s seminal film “American Graffiti,” then later in the popular sitcom “One Day At A Time,” with Valerie Bertinelli. The actress was on her way to New York for a “One Day at a Time” reunion at the time of the arrest.

Phillips has had drug troubles surface over her career, causing her to get fired from “One Day At A Time” on two separate occasions.
