Alexa Ray Joel is following in her mom's footsteps.
The singer has just been named the new face of Prell, the hair care brand her mother, Christie Brinkley, famously fronted in the 1980's, not long after the "Uptown Girl" married Billy Joel, Alexa's dad.
"I am so excited and honored to be named the new face of Prell — especially following in the footsteps of my mother," Alexa, 24, said in a statement according to TVGuide.com.
According to TVGuide.com, Alexa's Prell campaign will run in spring and summer. It will also feature Alexa's music. She will also have a fall campaign.
The news comes two months after Alexa was taken to a Manhattan hospital after reportedly taking a possible overdose of pills.
Following her release from the hospital, the singer, through her rep, offered thanks to, "everyone for their outpouring of love and support."
