10/7: The Hold Steady, Rosanne Cash & A.M. Homes, Fountains of Wayne

  • The Hold Steady may be Brooklyn-based, but the boys haven’t played a proper NYC show in a while. Thus, expect crazy, unadulterated, fist-pumping love to fill the Beacon, as the band’s swelling rock riffs and everyman storytelling come home. 8PM.
  • First daughter of country music Rosanne Cash considers herself a writer first, and a musician second—according to her new memoir, Composed, performing her own songs “rattled me to the core.” Cash comes to the 92nd Street Y upon the book’s publication, where she’ll be interviewed by another writer, A.M. Homes, part of the Lyricist’s Voice series. 8PM.
  • While Fountains of Wayne fans hold their collective breath for the release of the band’s new album (as yet untitled—and still being shopped to labels, btw), they can at least get something of a fix from the New Jersey crew’s live set at Bowery Ballroom. Jill Sobule opens the show, 9PM.
