We're Loving: Bassike

In a sea of perfect basics, rising Aussie line Bassike really does manage to stand out.

We know, we know, every day you hear about the most amazing $150 t-shirt, but this time, it's legit. And if you're a reader of Australian glossies like Russh or Australian Vogue, you'll recognize these pieces from their January pages. Slowly emerging from down under, Bassike (pronouced "basic") offers these killer, well, basics like cotton shirts or denim shorts in the softest iterations. (Side note: all of the cotton jersey pieces are 100% organic.)

Started up by friends Deborah Sams and Mary Lou Ryan, the line's already been picked up by Net-a-Porter.com -- no small feat for a young label.  You can expect every filler item a well-rounded closet needs, while also kept at a reasonable price -- $85 for an asymmetrical tank dress, for instance. Essentially, these ladies taking a page from Alexander Wang and going one step further. If you're curious to see how the pieces hang, take a look at the story UK Vogue's blog ran.  Pure, easy cool. As a bonus, they also design for men, if you're looking to update your boyfriend's closet this year!
