Rumor: Russian Model Was Killed for Her Hair

Russian beauty Ruslana Korshunova's tragic death last year in New York was ruled a suicide, but now a Russian online newspaper is reporting that the long-haired beauty was actually killed for her most famous asset -- her locks.

Korshunova died after a tragic fall from her ninth-floor balcony on Water Street in the Financial District last June at the young age of 20. Her friends were devastated (as were her business associates), and New York authorities definitively ruled the death a suicide, as there was no evidence of foul play.

But now a Russian online newspaper, Pravda, is suggesting the young model was, in fact, murdered for the long hair that made her famous. The Frisky picked up that Pravda actually quotes a concierge, Muhammad Naqib, who worked in Korshunova's apartment building and saw her body after she fell. "Only next day I realized what was wrong," says Muhammad Naqib. "It was her hair! It was much shorter than when I last saw her that night, lively and happy. It seemed like it was cut in a hurry since the ends were uneven.”

Korshunova was indeed quite famous for her hair -- some called her "The Rapunzel of Russia" -- but no one knows quite how reliable a source Pravda actually is, and the entire report could just be a rumor.
