Um, No: Tinsley Mortimer

Always taking style to the next level, socialite Tinsley Mortimer took the alarming trend of frothy, flowery embellishments and added some extra tiers. The result, alas, is more cake than fashion.

We can understand the instinct to go for something dramatic at the city's grand debut of the City Opera Theater, but all those layers and folds seeming to be overwhelming the poor girl's petite frame. The tiered wedding cake of a skirt on this gown would be enough for us to cry foul -- we haven't seen ruffled layers like those since our aunt's '70s wedding portrait -- but the addition of the heretofore-mentioned unfortunate giant-flower-in-the-middle-of-your-body trend that put this look right over the top. We've taken issue with the trend on others -- Leighton Meester's Prabal Gurung dress, Becki Newton's ruffled blouse -- but Ms. Mortimer blows them all away.
