Tory Burch has named CFDA winner Justin Gianta of Subversive design director of jewelry as the company sets out to expand that sector of the business, beginning with holiday/resort.
The relationship seems to us to be a natural one, combining Burch's youthful, vibrant medley of graphic designs and embellishments and Giunta's signature rich, thickly layered and anything-goes irreverence. The new position marks the much-lauded Giunta's first permanent gig with a fellow designer, following stints with Chris Benz and Trovata, as well as a capsule line for Target. It's no surprise the designer has everyone wanting to work with him -- in addition to winning the 2009 CFDA award for Accessories, Giuna won the first-ever Ecco Domani award for accessories design in 2008.
