YSL's Three-Day Sale Starts Today

We love it when a luxury brand like Yves Saint-Laurent welcomes us into its exclusive fold by offering a "Friends and Family" sale for all, with discounts up to 75 percent. Starting Thursday, the three-day event will take place at the Metropolitan Pavilion, and we've culled a few tips from last year's melee to help you get ready for the line.

1. Get there early. And we mean early: A good YSL Muse or Tribute bag can fetch a hefty price tag on any resale site (or store), and there are some seriously desperate YSL fans out there who don't mind devoting two hours in pre-dawn Chelsea to snag a prize YSL piece. Last year, early birds showed up a little after 6 a.m.

2. Dress Appropriately: Last year, the main drag on the line that created a massive wait was the coat and bag check. All coats and bags are checked at a window before the sale, staffed by only a few (exhausted) folks, so please make their lives easier by not carrying four different bags and have your stuff ready to be handed off once you get there.

3. Sometimes, it pays to skip the first day: If you don't think you'll be able to hit the sale early, we'd recommend waiting instead. As Madison Avenue Spy points out, the merchandise is discounted again for the last day, so the should-I-shouldn't-I item you might have passed up on Thursday might be a can't-miss-for-the-price by Saturday.
