Uggs to Launch Upscale Collection for Fall

Ugg Australia is expanding beyond its signature sheepskin boots and slippers to introduce for fall Ugg Collection, which consists of 30 new handbag and footwear styles, made in Italy.

The shoes will still be lined in sheepskin and feature a heavy tread like the boots, but with amped-up design features like stacked heels on knee-high leather boots and a neutral color palette with pops of leopard (perhaps the Jimmy Choo animal prints were a practice run?). Handbags come in hobo, satchel and weekender styles in surprisingly rich materials like leather, suede, merino and pony hair—plus sheepskin. VP of product for Ugg, Leah Larson, told WWD that the line is “bringing out the romanticism of sheepskin.…We took all the utilitarian details and kind of tweaked it.”

Retail prices on the new line match the boost in luxury, spanning $500-$1,195. Says Larson,  “We’re hoping to get a lot of new Ugg-love out of this." It seems a pretty penny to pay for Uggs, so time will tell.
