Sophia Coppola Weds in Custom Lavender Alaïa

This time, the bride wore Alaïa.

Oscar-winning director Sofia Coppola married her longtime partner, Thomas Mars at her family's villa in Italy on Saturday, dressed in a lavender gown custom-made by legendary designer Azzedine Alaïa.

The wispy, slightly sheer dress features a smoky-hued print, for a softly romantic vibe that a beaming Coppola paired with her signature wavy bob.

Rumors had swirled before the big day as to who would design the dress: Close friend Marc Jacobs was the best guess, having plucked Coppola as muse several years ago. But then again, Coppola was among the few invited to Alaïa's first-ever couture show in July, throwing what turned out to be the winning name into the hat.

While on the one side of celebrity weddings, Kate Middleton, Kate Moss and Kim Kardashian opted for all-white bridal parties, Coppola went the non-traditional route, much as Reese Witherspoon did with her blush-colored wedding dress this spring.
