Shabby Chic is Back

Having revolutionized a genre in girly girl interior design before recently shutting down her Soho outpost (along with filing for bankruptcy and shuttering stores across the country), Rachel Ashwell has relaunched Shabby Chic with new stores, a new site and Shabby Chic Couture.

The Cut went Design Hunting to get the skinny on Ashwell's comeback for Shabby Chic, which includes a scaled-back version of the familiar country/Victorian hodgepodge of home accents and fabrics, plus the addition of furniture and tabletop.

The store at 117 Mercer Street has been reworked and is now filled with the edited collection and favorite standbys, mixed up with new, original pieces and vintage collectibles in the Shabby Chic vein. Of course, the standard signatures remain: cozy, pillowy couches, and ultra-white denim slipcovers.
