Rumors: Melissa Shoes to Open in Soho

Watch out, Crocs! A far more fashionable form of synthetic footwear might be Soho-bound. The blogosphere is buzzing with rumors Brazilian shoe chain Melissa is scouting real estate in Soho to bring its plastic footwear to NYC in February 2011.

The environmentally-friendly, socially-responsible brand known for its fun, yet seriously-chic, collaborations with Vivienne Westwood and architect Zaha Hadid looks to be eyeing retail space on Greene Street, between Prince and Spring.

Treehugger reports the store's interior will evoke the idea of a cocoon—no detailed description yet on what that means, exactly, though we're confident the colors will be crazy.
