Rachel Zoe Grows Her Empire With Beauty and ‘AccessZOEries' Newsletters

The Rachel Zoe empire is expanding yet again. Stylist and designer Zoe launched a daily email newsletter and website The Zoe Report in 2009, doling out picks like her favorite Brian Atwood pumps of the moment. This month she adds new newsletters devoted specifically to beauty and accessories into the fold -- ZOE Beautiful and AccessZOEries -- while simultaneously re-launching the TheZoeReport.com. Rachel Zoe Inc. now includes a styling division, where Zoe reportedly earns $10,000 a day to work with celebrity clients like Anne Hathaway, a QVC line, a namesake fashion line which sells in stores like Neiman Marcus and a digital division.

Social networking has clearly played a key role in the growth of Zoe's personal brand. She boasts over 819,000 Twitter followers (to put that in perspective Gucci has just over 160,000) and is also active on Facebook and Tumblr. Zoe told us, “It has definitely been a steep learning curve. But luckily I have an amazing digital team who keeps me up to speed. The Internet plays such a key role in the fashion world now and I love being a part of it.”

Zoe attests that the relationships she has formed with women via online channels has influenced the direction of her namesake fashion line, which arrived in stores for the first time this fall. “I have learned that women love easy glamour, gorgeous pieces that are not necessarily ‘trendy’ but always relevant, versatile and that work day to night,” she said. “It is such an incredible thing to be able to directly communicate with my audience through social media -- I will always be listening to feedback and style dilemmas.” That sense of “easy glamour” was on display at her Spring 2012 presentation where blazers were paired with evening gowns.

Two new newsletters aren’t the only things on the horizon for Zoe, who also has a jewelry collection in the works. She said of the upcoming line, “Jewelry is everything to me, obviously, so I am beyond excited to be adding it to my line. Right now all I can tell you is that it will be unveiled with my next collection and that it is maj.” We’ll take her word for it.

And as for whether Zoe has been able to find any work life balance, something that she has often struggled with on her reality show, Bravo’s The Rachel Zoe Project, she said, “My work is so intertwined with my life, so it is hard to know where one ends and the other begins, but I prefer it that way because I really love what I do. I love working with my husband and I am so fortunate in that I have the luxury of bringing my son with me to the office every day. That definitely adds balance. He has given me perspective to not feel like I have to do everything. I still wear many hats designing, styling and editing, but he always comes first.”
