The press around It-label Proenza Schouler has mostly concerned the label's handbags (and allegedly similar-looking styles), but here's a spot of more tantalizing news: Designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez announced plans for a line of costume jewelry over the weekend, WWD reports.
The collection, which is still in the prototype stage, marks the pair's desire for something enduring. As McCollough told WWD:
“It’s nice when you've put so much time into developing a product for it to have a life. So much stuff that we put out there, three months later, it’s gone.”
That said, according to the report, the jewelry will comprise a set of classic styles that will still get a seasonal update featuring different colors and materials.
Proenza Schouler has produced a number of popular and pleasing casual bracelets and such in the past, and if their ability to forge timeless, collectible handbag silhouettes with the PS1 is any indication, this latest venture into costume jewelry seems promising.
