Patti Smith Welcomes Revelers to Fashion Week

When you think of "fashion," you don't necessarily think of Patti Smith. But there she was, opening Fashion Week with a rebel yell at MAC & Milk's opening night party for LnA last night.

LnA is really considered to be more of an L.A. fashion brand -- considering founders Lauren Alexander and April Leight are California natives and their signature brand of easygoing-sexy tees and leggings count celebrities like Megan Fox and Nicole Richie as fans -- but New York's finest turned out to welcome the brand as one of our own last night at the gallery at Milk Studios. Indie designers like Pamela Love sipped cocktails with friends near the bar, while Jared Leto (wearing a velvet trench, we should add) and a pal tried to snag a spot near the stage to rock out to performances by Metric and, of course, the aforementioned Smith.

The quote of the night had to be Patti Smith looking out over the sweaty, high-heeled hordes and saying, "This is supposed to be a fashion joint, but it looks like a hell-hole to me." Too true, Patti. Too true.
