One Shot: Stella McCartney's Olympic Uniforms, Revealed

Designer Stella McCartney has finally unveiled the uniforms (or "kit") that she designed for the hundreds of British athletes competing in the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

This isn't McCartney's first go-around when it comes to designing sportswear -- she's had a longstanding collaboration with Adidas, and she completed these uniforms in partnership with the sportswear company. In this case, however, there are hundreds of different uniforms, as well as spectacular technical requirements that needed to be taken into account. The designer told the AP: "There are seams you can't mess up, there's tons of things, home and away kits, in gymnastics you have to have symmetry or you're marked down ... But it's been an incredible journey."

The design is modeled after the iconic Union Jack, rendered in many different iterations for each sport.

McCartney isn't the only designer that's been tapped to create uniforms for his or her home country: Ralph Lauren will be creating the uniforms for the U.S. and Giorgio Armani will be designing the Italian team's uniforms.
