Report: Nina Garcia to Become Target's “Fashion Expert”

The "Project Runway" judge and Marie Claire fashion director is reportedly be embarking on a new advisory gig with lower-price mega-retailer Target, according to a report in WWD.

While the partnership has not yet been announced, WWD reported this morning that the new partnership is very real. Case in point: Garcia's presence on Target's fashion-focused site, StyleBoutique, in a number of blog posts and videos highlighting Target's fashion-forward products. In one post, Garcia uses Polyvore to create little mood boards featuring Target products; in several videos, she advises real women on how to make the most of "wardrobe basics" in a series called "Blah Basics."

According to WWD's report, the partnership would center around the StyleBoutique universe -- promoting the latest news around Target's main collections (Mossimo, Xhilaration, etc.), offering styling advice, and contributing style-focused features to the blog.

Of course, Garcia has a wonderful on-camera presence and considering Target's ever-expanding stake in the lower-price fashion market, it makes sense that the brand would employ an ambassador of sorts to preside over that layer of the store's business. However, Garcia seems to be starting to spread herself pretty thin, and it remains to be seen how this rumored partnership might affect her other full-time gigs (think Target integrations in "Project Runway," or ad pages and advertorial in Marie Claire).
