Another soccer pop-up! The countdown to the World Cup is on and Nike is fueling the fire with Nike Stadium, a pop-up "creative space" opening tonight at 276 Bowery.
The newly renovated space is set to house what the Nike Stadium website describes in quite broad terms as "stages for inspired performers, labs for innovative expressions, spaces where stories are told and others are written," while Bowery Boogie indicated there will also be a retail element along with it (natch). The Boogie was also told by a salesperson the Stadium would be open Thursday-Sunday, but the somewhat hyperbolic company website vows to be "always open, always on."
We'll simply have to do some reconaissance work once Nike Stadium opens, which will happen officially tonight. A short film directed by Spike Lee and Jake Summer, Everything is Practice will be screened tonight at the Stadium's opening party, along with four others, so get ready for kick-off (we couldn't resist).
Besides NYC, Nike Stadiums are currently set up in Tokyo, London, Milan, Berlin and Paris.
