MAC and Milk Studios Becomes “Made”

Now in its fifth season collaborating on New York Fashion Week, the collaboration between MAC and Milk Studios that formed the downtown hub called "MAC & Milk" is changing, starting with the name: The 15th Street outpost will now be called Made, Presented by MAC.

According to WWD, the cosmetics company, which is the largest sponsor of New York Fashion Week, has increased its show budget by 25 percent. Made, Having signed with Creative Artists Agency as partner and Lexus as a sponsor, Made, Presented by MAC will produce 37 shows in total.

John Demsey, president of MAC parent company Estée Lauder, cited the two-fold motivation behind the brand's strong ties to Fashion Week, explaining to the daily that "It hones the craft of our makeup artists and keeps the skill set of our makeup artists at a high level" and enables MAC "to pick up major trends and countercultural trends."

Most significantly, however, is what won't change: In the face of rising costs around Fashion Week, the central incubator concept of the downtown space will continue this season, making participation free for the designers in Made's lineup.
