Lunch with Barneys Creative Director Gets More Bids Than Jude Law, Hugh Jackman

Christie's "Green Auction: A Bid to Save the Earth" with charitybuzz draws to a close today, and in a surprise turn, bids for lunch with Barneys creative director Simon Doonan is beat out bids for lunch with Hugh Jackman and a chance to Jude Law, combined.

The auction serves as pretty conclusive proof of the cheery, eccentric Doonan's incredible appeal: The lot includes lunch (presumably at Fred's), an exclusive preview of the store's holiday windows and a $5,000 Barneys gift card, and has drawn in a landslide of bids -- $60,000! -- compared to Hollywood hotties Jackman and Law.  Jackman's package includes a day for two on the set of the upcoming Steven Spielberg film, Real Steel in Michigan and is currently going for $8,000, while Law's offers the winner a chance to stop by the set of an upcoming project within the next 12 months, with the highest bid hovering at a relatively paltry $1,100.

Doonan was apparently quite taken aback when he learned of the results. "I always assumed Jude Law and Hugh Jackman had infinitely more wattage than me, but clearly I have to reevaluate," Doonan told WWD. "I am going to have my office lined in a leopard carpet and wear a smoking jacket and ascot to work.”
