Lipstick Imitates Art: Estee Lauder Teams Up with Neue Galerie

To commemorate German artist Otto Dix's upcoming one-man exhibition at the Ronald S. Lauder Neue Galerie in March, Estee Lauder has created a dramatic "Berlin Red" lipstick and mirror compact exclusively for the museum's gift shop.

The vixen lipstick is a fitting homage to the artist, whose most famous works, including Portrait of the Dancer Anita Berber (1925) and Reclining Woman on Leopard Skin (1927), prominently feature female subjects with deep red pouts. Even the mirror compact has a rather Bauhaus-inspired feel in black, red, and gold -- all very in keeping wiht the musem's collection of early 20th-century German and Austrian art and design. Frankly, we love the idea of incorporating bright red lips into our museum tour -- and it's high time these myriad collaborations kicked it up a notch into a more artsy arena.

The Neue Galerie is located at 1048 Fifth Avenue.
