Last Night: Creatures of Comfort NYC Throws a Pre-Opening Party

Last night, we maneuvered neon lights, ring toss booths, and the street meat stands that make up Little Italy's Feast of San Gennaro Festival only to cover an even more lively after-dark scene: the Creatures of Comfort NYC store opening party.

Partygoers sipped cranberry vodkas, white wine, and beer while fighting for room to mingle and sway to DJ Wendy Yao's mix of sixties girl groups, South African electro-dance, and Riot Grrl artist Julie Ruin.

The new outpost is part-gallery, part-boutique, complete with the exposed brick and white expanses of the California original, plus a gallery expanse and outdoor courtyard passthrough that New York shoppers will love.
As of today, there's still no official opening date or phone number, but the 205 Mulberry Street location is already merchandised and tagged with the Lauren Manoogian paper jewelry, Slow and Steady bags, and eponymous blouses and chambray denim buttond downs that online boutique and L.A. shoppers know and love.

We've also been told that store-exclusive collarations with L.D. Tuttle, Mary Ping, Rachel Comey, and more are in the works.
