In the next few years, keep your eyes on recent Central Saint Martins grad, Yasmin Kianfar, whose debut collection of breezy chiffon eveningwear is guaranteed to adorn some of the world's most stylish trendsetters.
Favoring drapey length, meticulous cut-outs, and strappy detailing, Kianfar's latest collection combines a high fashion sensibility with edgy accents (without verging on the played-out "goth" look we've seen enough of). A tad more grown-up than Alex Wang but not so adult as Givenchy, Kianfar's signature look is sophisticated with a touch of rock n' roll, as exemplified by a pleated white chiffon gown with a giant black "X" over the bodice, or a floor-length black dress with hundreds of tiny cut outs along the ribs, waist, and neckline.
Kianfar may classify her first collection as eveningwear, but as fellow blogger Susie Bubble points out: "Surely lightweight chiffon dresses with cut-outs can be worn at dawn, day, dusk, night or deep deep night depending on how they are worn." We have to agree. Some of the long sheer tunics are screaming to be worn as fancy swimsuit cover-ups to a pool or beach party.
