While Jerome Dreyfuss's wife, Isabel Marant, may be attracting a ton of media buzz around her impending Soho opening in mid-April, we're equally thrilled at the prospect of sampling all of the Paris-based designer's effortlessly chic handbags in one Soho space.
For fans of Dreyfuss, a comprehensive selection of his signature tough-yet-supple handbags -- from the slouchy "Billy" to the messenger-style "Twee" -- has been tough to come by, even in New York. Kisan has a very decent array of bags, as does Barneys and online outpost La Garconne, but we'd listen wistfully to tales of friends who'd been to the designer's Paris shop.
Now, it sounds like we'll get our wish, and sooner than we'd even hoped: New York Magazine got a sneak peek at the Palm Springs-inspired interior, which is a combination store and showroom, carrying only one of fhis collections at a time (in a five-month rotation period). Prices for the bags (available in a dizzying array of colors) run $600-$1,000 -- a hefty sum, to be sure, but we can attest to having worn our Dreyfuss bag from 2007 nearly into the ground, and it still looks impossibly chic.
Jerome Dreyfuss is located at 473 Broome Street (opening later this week)
