We don't anticipate anyone kicking back brewskies and mustard-laden hotdogs while sporting Isabel Marant's brocade "baseball" jacket—but we would admire the attempt.
For Fall 2010, Marant put a high-fashion spin on cheeky 1950's styles a la Grease, and the look has totally taken off, from ankle-skimming flood pants to bow-embellished kitten heels. While you could easily recreate Marant's retro-chic look using pieces from budget stores like TopShop and Zara, there's no faking the piece de resistance, which is a crying shame considering its whopping $745 price tag.
Apparently, there's just not a big enough metallic baseball jacket market for high-street stores to produce low-cost knockoffs (and believe us, we've done the research—come on, Zara!), which means we'll have to continue pining at the runway picture, saved conveniently to our desktop, until we cave and either flee to the Greene Street location, or frantically log on to Net-a-Porter.
