Hunter Expands Horizon Beyond Wellies

Hunter Boots are a closet staple for any New Yorker expecting to be mobile between October and April, and the beloved brand of rainboots is now branching out its offerings to footwear more suitable to the indoors.

With business up 100 percent in 2009 (100 percent!), Hunter decided to develop a capsule collection of suede and leather shoes and boots. This year alone, Hunter will introduce a whopping 20 new styles of loafers, clogs, riding boots, snow boots and more, retailing between $395-$900.  The brand will also introduce snazzed-up rubber styles in wedge heels and laces, which look cute, but probably won't sway us from our loyalty to the classic.  Last, but not least, we'll see Hunter handbags and winter accessories.

All this new merch comes just in time for the first Hunter store slated for the new Limelight Marketplace, as well as a rearrangement in distribution, which execs tightened up a bit  to keep the brand at the top of the market.

Bloomingdales will be the place to get Hunter boots and accessories come fall, a piece of intel we're psyched to have, and -- given the scarcity of our favorite boots once the wet-weather blues really hit this season -- a bit reluctant to share.
