Hermès Reportedly in Talks to Sell Gaultier

Nearly a year after Jean Paul Gaultier stepped down as creative director for Hermès, the house has confirmed that talks are underway to sell their 45-percent stake in the designer's namesake brand, WWD reports.

Nobody's divulging details on potential buyers at this point, but it should be noted that Gaultier came up at rival LVMH's shareholder's meeting yesterday—according to a WWD report, when asked about the designer as a potential replacement for John Galliano at Dior, chief Bernard Arnault "merrily" said, "I'll note your suggestion."

Arnault, much to the consternation of Hermès, has recently acquired a 20.2 stake in the company, so, while it's anybody's guess who will buy Gaultier, we wouldn't be surprised to see LVMH make a bid for the brand while they're at it.
