See Tom Ford's Fall 2011 Collection

After a long wait, Tom Ford has released its long-awaited first glimpse of the Fall/Winter 2011-2012 collection in a video released online. Up until now, the collection had only been viewed by a small group of editors in London in February.

The designer's second collection after a hiatus from designing womenswear has been promoted under the same tightly-controlled procedure as his first, in what's become a noted effort to transcend the de-rigeur process of instantaneous exposure, months in advance of a season.

For Fall, Ford's signature sense of mature femininity shines through in snug, pencil-thin silhouettes; skirts to the knee and bodices stretching high on the neck and sleeves, to the wrist. Trousers are major, in wide flares or cigarette slim. Gowns cover everything.

In these securely-held silhouettes, opulence rules: Coats are piled with rich hair and huge fur collars, gold flickers in long fringe tassels and looks painted onto fabric, and jewel tones and zebra print round out the colors.
