“Fashion Delivers” Brings Clothing to Victims in Haiti

The fashion industry is notorious for its fickle crew, but there are hearts of gold concealed beneath those leather vests.  Founded in the wake of hurricanes Katrina and Rita, charitable relief fund, Fashion Delivers, distributes overstock product from the world's leading men's, women's, and home brands to disaster victims. This week, with the unfolding tragedy in Haiti, board members (including Sean Combs and Raf Simmons) found themselves needing to redouble their collection efforts.

A massive "open call" has been issued to designers and stores around the globe, requesting lightweight apparel for men, women and children to see islanders through the rough weeks ahead. Brooklyn-based retailer, Bird, has already pledged to donate its sale product, as well as 10% of all weekend business, to the cause.

With such a celebrity-studded board, expect to see high profile charity campaigns in the next few weeks.  To get involved or find out what you can do to contribute, visit www.fashiondelivers.org.

Visit Bird at 203 Grand Street (between Bedford and Driggs).
