Bill Blass: Jeffrey Monteiro Sounds Forward March for the Classic Label

This morning, during a much-anticipated Lincoln Center Box presentation, the brand's latest creative director -- designer Jeffrey Monteiro -- paid reverence to the label's upscale, all-American roots, helming its first runway show since 2008.

Red, white, and navy dominated front-creased day and evening trousers, formal suiting, and cocktail dresses and gowns. Crisply tailored bolero jackets, nipped-waist, beaded sleevess shells, and conservative hemlines were the general trend.

Save for a crochet shocker that seemed at once at home (perched within a long red dress grouping) and apart (the body-baring, large weave and crochet itself rendered it thoroughly conceptual) the show was pure Blass.
