Givenchy Couture Just Got More Exclusive

Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci, who dressed Zoe Saldana in that frothy purple concoction at the Academy Awards, is pulling the label's couture line from the runways in favor of a more exclusive, not to mention smaller, couture collection.

In place of staging a catwalk extravaganza,Tisci will present the looks - and there will be just ten - in a luxe18th-century town house on the Place Vendôme, WWD reports. While it sounds like a cost-cutting measure, Tisci insists not. In fact, the couturier asserts that this new plan is 35 percent more expensive. The installation will showcase his sumptuous gowns on both mannequins and models. Photographer Willy Vanderperre will shoot a look book featuring top models Lara Stone and Mariacarla Boscon.

The collection will focus on sumptuous eveningwear, which is what Tisci's elite clientele, the likes of which apparently don't go to fashion shows anyway, in order to protect their privacy, expect from him. All the pieces will boast embroidery and there will be nary a black dress in the bunch.

In more design news, the house is also cooking up some  high-level collaborations, including a high-end jewelry collection which will launch next season.
