Forever21 is no stranger to copyright law, because they frequently skate the fine line very closely, but news that founders Do Won Chang and Jin Sook Chang have been called out by name to face Express in court, rather than just settle like usual, has eyebrows raised.
Everyone sues Forever21, because Forever21 copies everyone, all the time. However, this time, Chang and Chang will have to face the music in a deposition over the chain's alleged infringement on plaid patterns on men's shorts and a zippered jacket. Most recently in its string of settlements, Forever21 paid off Trovata out of court.
Does this signify real hot water for the bargain basement party costumer? We sure hope not, but wait and see.
