After a successful run in Japan, Comme des Garcons' take on Converse kicks will hit the U.S. later this month at Comme des Garcons stores across the city, as well as select retailers that sell Comme des Garcons Play. Then, come October, the rest of the nation will be able to buy one of the four new styles -- two high-top sneakers and two oxfords, all emblazoned with the signature heart and eyes.
One interesting note about the collaboration: Apparently CDG designer Rei Kawakubo was infatuated with a very particular model of Chuck Taylors -- one sold in the '50s for the U. S. Army. Apparently, the new design was based off of that retro style -- which we think sounds pretty darn cool.
