Despite recent financial troubles resulting in its reduction to a licensing operation, designer Christian Lacroix has signed on to outfit 20,000 staff of France's railway operator SNCF.
The sprightly smart get-ups include gray suits, lavender blouses and wool berets for women, and suits and shirts for men. The design turn comes on Lacroix's tenure as a transportation outfitter, having worked on interiors for Tézo and TGV train lines and designing staff outfits for Air France. Only in France would uniforms be so chic.
