Chanel Just May Do the Digital

While sites like Net-a-Porter have broken ground by offering super luxe looks for sale online, and Marc Jacobs plans to sell perfume and accessories on his very own commerce-enabled website by summer's end, there are still some brands for which the web is a big no-no. Namely, Chanel. However ... drumroll please ...

Rumor has it that Chanel is considering offering up some of its upscale wares to shoppers in the digital realm. Some credit the market downturn for the move, though wed' bet it's just high time the powers that be start making full use of the internet. (Heck, a ton of folks livestreamed their runway shows online this season -- why not take the plunge?)

Although they're starting out simple, with just fragrance for sale, word is they'll eventually offer eyeglasses and accessories too. We'll take whatever we can get.
