Founded in Newport, RI in 1752, before the States were even, well, United, Caswell-Massey blazed the trail for today's popular classic, squeaky clean apothecary chemists hawking high-class soaps and such. Its entree into the Limelight as an anchor to the beauty corridor marks the shop's second location, with the only existing one being the flagship on Madison Ave, which opened in 1926.
Forget the sweaty dawn orgies of the 80s, folks, New York may be returning to its holier early roots, lacing in some of the classic into this church-to-club-to-newfangled retail concept.
