Canal Street Crackdown Targets Fake Bags

This morning, the NYPD put the smack down on counterfeited goods on Canal Street, closing 31 stores selling the illegal purses, perfumes, and more. And right in the midst of holiday shopping season too--they're not messing around!

A policeman, clearly a man who appreciates the finer things in life and is tired of the endless pleather parade, later explained to New York Magazine, it's "time to take back the street of New York."  As sources told NBC New York, experts will be evaluating the merchandise today and the landlords of each offending storefront will have to appear in court to defend themselves.

And so the gauntlet of good taste (and copyright protection) has been throw down, ladies and gentlemen. It's time to start saving up for the $2000 real deals.
