In a last-minute move, insider favorite Camilla Staerk has canceled her runway show -- previously scheduled for September 12 at Milk Studios -- for what appear to be financial reasons.
We can't say we're surprised that the strains of both a struggling economy and the high cost of presenting a collection at fashion week in New York have started claiming victims, but it's particularly disappointing to see such a serious rising talent be forced to step down. Staerk told WWD that she's "ocusing on building a strong foundation for the label and the launch of her new line, Staerk Signature," which will apparently be unveiled at a trade show later this month.
Staerk's signature blend of edgy design and immaculate tailoring has become something we look forward to each season, so we're looking forward to the line's return to fashion week in February for the fall 2010 collections.
